By-laws

The Municipal Act grants Council the power to pass By-laws.

By-laws are created as a way to address local issues and concerns. They are adopted to protect the environment, public health and safety or to maintain an orderly appearance within the Municipality.

Frequently Requested By-laws

Short-term rentals

Short-term accommodations are not an officially approved residential use within the Municipality of Highlands East. While we do not currently regulate or enforce by-laws pertaining to short-term rentals/accommodations, this is subject to change as the County of Haliburton is currently undertaking a review of this topic on behalf of all municipalities in the county.
